There are a variety of ways that parents and community members can make
a difference at RMCDC:
Become a Member of the Society
As a member of the Society you will have voting rights and be eligible
to sit on the Board of Directors. This is a valuable way to contribute
to the Centre for only $5.00 per year.
Volunteer
Use your talents to help us make a difference in the life of families
and children who receive services from the Centre by joining our Family
Advisory Committee or Community Advisory Committee or Board of Directors.
The
Family Advisory Committee
The RMCDC Family Advisory Committee (FAC) consists of family members of
children who currently receive or formerly received services from RMCDC.
All FAC members are members of the Ridge Meadows Child Development Centre
Society and currently reside on Maple Ridge or Pitt Meadows. The Family
Advisory Committee (FAC) has input and influence on policies, programs,
and practices at the Centre. Members participate in various activities,
including: program evaluation, sitting on hiring committees, reviewing
written and audiovisual materials, participating in task forces, reviewing
grant proposals, co-facilitating staff training sessions, developing parent
programs, and advocating for services for families.
RMCDC provides support to FAC members by making available a consistent
staff liaison member and by providing: training and educational opportunities;
secretarial support; reimbursement for child care, mileage, and related
expenses; and easy access to information the committee will need to perform
its duties.
Members must have children who receive or have received services from
the Centre and must reside in Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows. If you might be
interested or if you know someone who you think would be a valuable member
of the committee, please contact a Family Support Worker,
at 604-463-0881 (local 316), or info@rmcdc.com.
The Community Advisory Committee
The RMCDC Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is made up of RMCDC staff
members as well as community members.
The Board of Directors
The Ridge Meadows Child Development Centre Society is incorporated as
non-profit organization under the Society's Act of the Province of BC.
Under the Constitution and Bylaws of the Society a Board of Directors
is elected by the membership of the Society to act as the stewards of
the Society's business, personnel and financial affairs. Board members
are all volunteers and serve terms of two years (up to a maximum of 3
terms).
The Board is always looking for individuals who are interested in becoming
a Board member. If you are interested in the work of the Centre, want
to learn and want to make a difference, becoming a board member may appeal
to you. Please contact the Centre and ask to be put in touch with the
President of the Board of Directors.
Donate
Tax deductible donations help maintain vital home and community-based
rehabilitation services for children with developmental delays and disabilities.
Individuals, groups, and businesses can donate by simply mailing a cheque
to RMCDC, indicating 'donation' on the description line. We sincerely
appreciate your support.
