Mission Statement

We support and foster the achievement of the full potential in children, families, and communities.

History

The Ridge Meadows Child Development Centre Society was founded in 1989 as a non-profit charitable organization by a group of parents and professionals concerned about the lack of pediatric rehabilitation and behavior support services in the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows area.  Our initial location was at the St. John the Divine Church on River Road.  In 1995 we moved to the former Yennadon Elementary School on 232nd Street and in 2006 grew into our current, larger, and more centrally located space on Dewdney Trunk Road.

Who We Serve

The Early Intervention Program and First Steps Program serve families of children with confirmed or suspected developmental delays or disorders, until they enter school.  Services include occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech-language pathology and family support services.

The School-Age Therapy Program serves children enrolled in a public school in School District #42.  Students may receive consultation services for physiotherapy or occupational therapy.

The Family Connections Program is a service offered to families to who have a child or children, up to the age of 19, affected or suspected of being affected with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS). The program also offers an educational program for parents/caregivers of children 5 – 12 years of age, who have a confirmed diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

The Direct Funding Respite Program is a service, administered by RMCDC, that provides funds for up to 28 families to purchase their own respite care.  Families must be referred by the Ministry for Children and Family Development.
